SMS Text Messaging |
SMS text messaging is available as an additional module and enables you to send SMS messages to mobile phones from the Workshop Manager. You can create and send messages manually or send automatic reminders when MOTs and services become due.

| 1. | Open GDS > SMS Text Messaging. |
| 2. | Enter the recipient's mobile number in the Mobile No. field or click the |
| 3. | Enter a message in the Message field (maximum 160 characters) or select a pre-defined message from the drop-down list. |
| 4. | Click the Send button to send the message. |
If you have a customer record open you can send a SMS by clicking 'Send SMS' in the toolbar. This will open the SMS Text Messaging window with the customer's name and mobile number already included. You can then enter or select a message and click the Send button to send the message. The window also includes a list of previous messages to that customer.
Mobile phones issued in Ireland
Please note that if the recipient of the message has a mobile phone issued in Ireland (not Northern Ireland) you must use the international prefix '+353' for the number, even when you are based in Ireland yourself. This is because the system which sends out the SMS is based in the UK. If you wish to use SMS for customer reminders then you should also ensure that the mobile phone number in the Customer record has the '+353' prefix.
Checking your SMS message credit balance
In order to send SMS messages you will need to purchase credits. You can check your remaining number of credits at any time by opening GDS > SMS Text Messaging and clicking the link 'Click here to check SMS credit balance'. Your remaining credits will be displayed along with the option to order 100, 500 or 1000 credits.
